Hearty Crock Pot Kielbasa Chili
Jenni Cole

hearty chili recipe in a crockpot
takes the classic recipe to an entirely different level. A

1

1
lb
kielbasa sausage
1
cup
onion
1
cup
green pepper
or red
2

1 16

2
bay leaves
1

salt
1
teaspoon
chili powder
1
teaspoon
dried oregano
⅔
teaspoon
black pepper
ground
⅛
teaspoon
cayenne pepper
Instructions
Saute ground beef/turkey until cooked and drain. Put in the crockpot.
Cut the kielbasa into ½" slices and also cut each slice in half. Cook until lightly browned, drain the grease, and put the sausage into the crockpot.
Add the rest of the remaining ingredients and stir them together.
Cook on low in a crockpot for 8 hours or until done.
Garnish with cheese, chives, or sour cream and serve.
Notes
Use a different type of precooked sausage
like andouille to make it spicy, or chicken sausage to make it lighter
Using ground turkey instead of ground beef (along with chicken sausage) makes a
healthier lower-fat version
Make a black bean
sausage chilli to change things up
Skip the cayenne pepper
if you don't have it and just add a touch more black pepper
If you're in a hurry skip browning
the smoked kielbasa sausage, you'll still need to brown the beef.
Swap frozen bell peppers for fresh
if you don't have any on hand. No need to defrost first!
The beef and sausage chili recipe was adapted from the Logger's Chili in the
Simply Classic cookbook
