1 ½tablespoonpork rubour homemade recipe or store bought
2tablespoonsBBQ sauce
Instructions
Preheat the air fryer to 360 F for 5 minutes.
Make the pork rub (optional)
Make our homemade pork rub by combining: 1 tablespoon cumin, 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 tablespoon ground garlic, 1 tablespoon ground onion powder, 1 tablespoon smoked paprika, 2 tablespoons sea salt, 1 tablespoon ground black pepper, ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper, and 2 teaspoons brown sugar (or sugar free substitute like golden monkfruit). This will make more than you need for the recipe.
Air fry
Cut large pieces of fat from the steaks, blot them dry with paper towels.
Sprinkle the rub on both sides of the steak. Only one pork steak could fit in the air fryer, you might be able to cook 2 if you have a large air fryer.
Air fry at 360 F for 9-10 minutes. Brush both sides with BBQ sauce and air fry for 1-2 more minutes or until internal temp reaches 145 F when checked in the thickest part of the meat with a digital meat thermometer.
Let the pork rest for 3 minutes before serving. Serve with your favorite BBQ side dishes. Add more BBQ sauce on the side, enjoy!

Notes
Remove the pork from the fridge 20-30 minutes before cooking to start bringing it to room temperature. This helps the pork to cook evenly. If you skip this step, the pork steak could take longer to cook.According to the USDA, cook pork until the internal temperature reaches at least 145 F when tested with a digital meat thermometer checked in the thickest part of the steak. The size of our pork steak was 1" thick and 5" wide at the widest point, plus had the bone-in. If your grocery store sells them boneless or cuts them in half, you can still use this cooking method, the pork will just take less time to cook.
